Collages, drawings and paintings

I draw a line or use color, look at it,
another line, color or ripped piece of paper, looking again,
a line over the other line, color over color, looking again,
I sit down and have a look from the other side, turn the canvas around, place it in different light, look again;
I search for the easiest solution, the one the eye can understand in one glimpse, without thoughts, like it was already there without ever noticing it; I’m uncovering it from layers, dig it up from deepdown.
And I keep looking.
The eye needs to be clear as if it was just born.

Colagens, desenhos e pinturas

Eu desenho uma linha ou uso uma cor, olho-a,
uma outra linha, uma cor ou um pedaço de papel rasgado, olho-o novamente,
uma linha sobre a outro linha, cor sobre cor, olho outra vez,
Sento-me e olho para o outro lado, viro-me para as telas à minha volta, coloco-as sob diferentes luzes, olho novamente;
Eu procuro a solução mais fácil, a única que o olhar pode compreender num só relance, com a mente livre, como se isso sempre estivesse ali sem nunca o ter reparado;
eu estou a descobri-lo a partir de camadas, escavando as profundidades.
E continuo a olhar.
O olhar necessita de ser puro como se fosse acabado de nascer.
