like earlier works by kahrs, many of the images are based on documentary photography and film stills as well as images from his own archive. the imagery the artist selects features physical confrontation which is often highly sexualized, political and even violent in subject matter. his interpretations of the original works are often blurred, cropped or distorted, distancing the viewer from the reference point….
