Op dit bijna surrealistisch schilderij zie je in acrylverf geschilderde fly-overs, een uitkijktoren en ballerina’s die als elfjes sierlijk naar beneden springen. Dit alles omlijst met in vette klodders olieverf uitgevoerde struiken en bloemen. Inspiratiebron voor dit schilderij zijn de Everglades, een groot moeras in Florida, waar Van der Sterren vorig jaar een tocht maakte…
De waterval
Die rode hoek in mijn schilderij blijft materie. Zelfs als je hem uitkadert. In dat geval ga je waarschijnlijk denken dat het een ondefinieerbare vlek is. Als tegenstelling heb ik de afbeelding van het melkmeisje gemaakt. Zij is en blijft statisch. Zoals zo vaak, drijf ik ook in dit werk de materialiteit en de afbeelding op de spits. Dan krijg je een zoektocht. Of liever nog, een beweging tussen de abstracte en de figuratieve kunst…
